rest house
dear members. I have a small submission. IRTSA is fighting for a lot of legitimate rights, which are to be given by the government. But I think we fail to maintain a benefit given by the railways. I mean the supervisor's rest house. It is to be officially maintained by one among the brother members. But how many of us have taken real interest in maintaining it. Except in very few cases all are in bad shape. Let us take efforts to maintain it well and uplift our dignity. It may need some writing and constant follow up. Your work will benefit us. But of course the person who maintain it may not use, because it will be his HQ.

RE: rest house
It is a need of the hour. Let IRTSA try to compile and publish in its index page itself the details of various supervisors rest houses in various places so that it will be helpful to the entire supervisory community. Our brother civil and electrical engineers can greatly help us in it.

RE: rest house
It is not a secret that some of these rest houses are permanent shelter for some employees headquartered at that place and those who are coming from far off places on duty have to suffer.

Kumarje,
What you suggested is the real fact what almost every supervisore is facing. I have seen so many rest houses where it maintained dirty, on the other hand well-maintained for officers rest house. A clear case of negligence and discrimination.

Subordinate Rest House
Four of us(ICF Engineers) wanted to stay at the Rest House at Howrah station for a day on 06.12.2009. We first approached the care-taker of the rest house on first floor near Twelfth platform . But, he evaded to offer any room saying all the rooms have been reserved. [Later, we came to know that some other ICF Engineers(Malayalam speaking) got a room at the same rest house]
Then, we approached the care-taker of the rest house(comparatively maintained poor) on third floor near First platform. The care-taker initially hesitated saying all the rooms are reserved, then agreed to provide room when we offered TIPS.
Such are the conditions of the rest houses at important stations.

RE: Subordinate Rest House
A major part of the solution is with in our hands, which we are not doing. Is it because it is not going to benefit the person who struggle for it? I don't think the administration is going to come in the way of a legitimate effort. I again reiterate, it all lies in our hands. We must correlate the dignity our cadre with this also.

RE:Subordinate Guest house.
Actualy railway staff including most of the engineers have not care to use the facility given by railway .As engineers are the custodian of Guest house they can maintain it properly and give full details of all guesthouses in our net.

Subordinate Rest house
I do not understand what is meant by 'As engineers are custodian of Guest house...'. Is there not a separate wing taking care of the Guest/Rest houses? [I think there is difference between Guest house and Rest house: Guest houses meant for Officers and Rest houses for Subordinates]. We are concerned about mismanagement and poor maintenance of Subordinate Rest houses.
